Hot Knife Rope Cutting Fume Extraction

The use of a hot knive or hot wire cutters on certain materials (e.g. nylon rope, polystyrene)has the potential to release hazardous particulate and fumes. The Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of these materials should be referenced in order to evaluate and plan for the hazards involved. In many cases, these MSDS recommend respiratory safety engineering controls, such as local exhaust ventilation or respirators.

This video provides examples of two different fume extraction & air purification systems that could potentially be utilized for hot rope cutting and foam cutting processes.
