DEBURRING BARREL TUMBLERS
Deburring Barrel Tumblers are the most versatile option of parts finishing systems. Reasons of application for this equipment include heavy deburring, high polishing, degating, and parts drying. If you have a heavy load and a vibratory finisher isn’t a good option, then a barrel tumbler is an ideal alternative. The barrel size options cover everything from a few ounces up to the size of a small car, and everything in between. When estimating the required barrel capacity, keep in mind the barrel should only be half full during its usage.

During the process, the load inserted into the barrel slowly rolls and cascades to achieve the desired surface finish of the product. In particular, this process provides several options that vary your outcome. First, the process may be wet or dry, meaning with or without water. Second, media isn’t necessary in this process, however if its incorporation generates your preferred outcome, it can be easily included.

Wet barrel finishing, the system containing water, is a batch system for the removal of excess material or the polishing of parts. Employing water and Finishing Compounds in the process forms radii, removes burrs, improves surface appearances, polishes, and cleans. Wet barrel tumbling is a wise choice for processing metal and plastic parts.

Dry barrel finishing is a batch system for mass polishing or removing excess material from plastic or metal parts without liquids. Similarly, dry tumblers also form radii, but also deflash, polish, and grind parts. If you need to finish delicate parts that risk damage in a wet barrel, dry tumbling is the best choice. A dry system produces a smoother and higher finish. Therefore, the final appearance looks shockingly hand-buffed with greater uniformity.

If you’re unsure what options and set-up best suits your project needs, a representative from Kramer is happy to assist you.

The K Series is designed for heavy-duty use and large loads and parts. Multiple capacity systems allow for a wide variety of applications. A workhorse system engineered to last for decades and provide consistent and continuous performance.

The TT Series is a specialty line of open-ended, octagonal, oblique barrel tumblers. This heavy duty system allows for quick loading and unloading and can be used wet or dry. The barrel can be fixed in any position to change the tumbling motion and aggressiveness. This unique design is ideal when more control is needed in the tumbling process.
