    Water Testing for Environmental Applications

Keeping the water in our lakes, rivers, and streams clean requires monitoring of water quality at many points as it gradually makes its way from its source to our oceans. Over the years ever increasing environmental concerns and regulations have heightened the need for increased diligence and tighter restrictions on wastewater quality. Control of water pollution was once concerned mainly with treating wastewater before it was discharged from a manufacturing facility into the nation`s waterways. Today, in many cases, there are restrictions on wastewater that is discharged to city sewer systems or to other publicly owned treatment facilities. Many jurisdictions even restrict or regulate the runoff of stormwater — affecting not only industrial and commercial land, but also residential properties as well.

Airport environmental protection solutions for the runways & shoulders

Airport Runway, Taxiway and Shoulder Stabilization. Airport pavements designed to support heavy commercial aircraft and vehicle loads require a stable base to maintain pavement performance. This can be challenging, especially in areas with soft soils and poor soils prone to settlement. The GEOWEB system stabilizes the pavement base layer with 50% less fill, and offers a more stable base that results in longer pavement life. The GEOWEB system is an effective base stabilization system as well as surface protection for unpaved, permeable shoulders and access way.

  • Reverse Osmosis - Pretreatment and Clarification - Wils ElectroWaveTM Conditioning

Wilsa ElectorWaveTM Conditioning can be used to pretreat water for reverse osmosis. The Wilsa Effect breaks emulsions, enhances separation to remove hydrocarbons and clarify solids before entering RO treatment. The effect also substantially lowers the viscosity of the water which allows it to pass through membranes with less effort.

  • Headworks Odor and Corrosion Control Using Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide typically controls odors and corrosion at treatment plant headworks by direct oxidation of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) within the wastewater. In the direct oxidation mode, H2O2 is applied to the wastewater 5-30 minutes prior to the point where the odors are being released, generally as the wastewater line enters the plant boundary. The efficiency of hydrogen peroxide treatment depends upon the available reaction time, the level of iron in the wastewater (reaction catalyst), wastewater pH and temperature, and the initial and target levels of H2S odor. Under optimal conditions, effective dose ratios are 1.2 - 1.5 parts H2O2 per part dissolved sulfide, and can be reliably estimated through beaker tests. H2O2 + H2S → S0 + 2H2O Frequently, control of odors through the primary clarifiers is wanted. In such case, the mechanism of control is both direct oxidation of H2S (as it rises from the solids blanket), and prevention of odor generation (by supplying dissolved oxygen). Control is typically achieved with a booster dose of 1-2 mg/L H2O2 added to the clarifier influent. Higher doses or alternate modes of addition may be required in cases where: 1) hydraulic retention times are > 2-3 hours; 2) solids blanket depths are > 1-2 feet; 3) soluble BOD levels are > 200-300 mg/L; or 4) waste activated sludge is co-settled with the primary solids. 2H2O2 → O2 + 2H2O

  • Odor control solutions for industrial sector

Malodors can commonly be the by-prodcut of many industrial and manufacturing processes. Oil refineries and petrochemical plants may generate large volumes of odor from the processing and refining of different fuels. Sulfides, mercaptans, and hydrocarbon compounds are all closely related to the petro-chemical industry. The odors generated from these industrial compounds are of a high nuisance value and generally create concern among local air boards and the public communities which surround these plants.

  • Industrial wastewater treatment systems for oil and gas industry

Ecolotron, Inc. manufactures the world’s best electrolytic equipment and systems used in a variety of water and wastewater treatment applications. Ecolotron, Inc. applies patented E – FLOC technology to design and build electrolytic wastewater systems for the treatment and beneficial reuse of frac, flow-back and other produced waters associated with oil and gas exploration and production activities. E-FLOC technology uses a low Voltage electric current to destabilize multiple contaminates simultaneously via a single unit process. Both dissolved and suspended contaminates are removed, emulsions are split and water soluble hydrocarbons (TPH / BTEX) are oxidized as bacteria is also destroyed. With over 20 year of success in the oil & gas and water treatment industries, Ecolotron, Inc. provides custom engineered, turn-key solutions for the construction of centralized, produced water treatment systems and facilities.

  • Industrial wastewater treatment systems for plating wastewater treatment

Plating Wastewater Treatment Application: Wastewater generated from chrome and nickel plating operations. Prior Treatment Method: Chrome and nickel streams were segregated because of characteristics. Chrome was reduced from hexavalent to trivalent state then combined with the nickel stream. The full stream was then precipitated via typical hydroxide precipitation methodology. Broad swings in the contaminate concentrations resulted in poor treatment and the facility was issued several NOVs.
