Plastic Random Packing for Distillation
Distillation is the process of physically separating a mixture into two or more products that have different boiling points, by specifically boiling the more volatile components out of the mixture. When a liquid mixture of two volatile materials is heated, the vapor that comes off will have a higher concentration of the more volatile material than the liquid from which it was evolved. Random packing including plastic random packing may be utilized in a distillation column in to maximize the specific surface area. Random packing helps to maximize vapor-liquid contact area and therefore efficiency.
