Smart solutions for Wastewater treatment - Water and Wastewater

Sewage treatment of decentralised areas has always been a serious environmental problem and its solution imposes a technical challenge to the municipal planners and environmental engineers. There are many remote villages, municipalities, tourist resorts and military or labour camps that are not connected to the main sewerage network and most of the times such connections are financially no viable and technically not feasible.

For such cases the DEVISE “Packaged Smart Solutions” utilising compact, pre-engineered and pre-fabricated units in containerised or skid mounted form are the most convenient and cost effective solution for the treatment of sewage.

Similarly, for the cases that concern the treatment of wastewater coming from factories that they are either away from the main sewerage network or the effluent quality can not be accepted untreated from the sewerage system then the solution of DEVISE’s packaged units either being primary stage or secondary biological stage or tertiary treatment or a complete solution, is again the most cost effective and almost certainly the most convenient causing the least disturbance in the operation of the industry.

The time comes that a Sewage Treatment Facility Municipal or Industrial may require significant upgrading or even an extension.  The upgrade usually concerns improvement process performance (removal rates) and efficiency as well as replacement of mechanical equipment.

The plant expansion usually refers to an increase of the capacity or to the extension of treatment ability, ie adding Nutrient Removal.

At all cases DEVISE is able offer solutions that will require the minimum disturbance of the plant’s operation and the least civil works construction in order to obtain significant capacity and performance increase.

The use of MBBR-IFAS technology that DEVISE has significant know-how and experience and also that of MBR are some of the methods that can be incorporated in the design so that DEVISE offers a solution to client’s requirements.  These solutions will require virtually no civil works and using the same bio-reactors DEVISE can achieve treatment capacity increase of up to 100% of original capacity depending on the effluent quality requirements.  The complete solution may incorporate either a number of packaged systems or individual items with the respective services in order to fulfill the needs of the plant for upgrade and or expansion.

DEVISE has developed “Smart Treatment Solutions” for larger capacities plants.  Medium size  STP’s up to treatment capacity of 2,300 m3/d (11,500 P.E.) are possible to implement with Packaged Systems.  DEVISE is currently implementing such a STP using its revolutionary “Ultra-Clear Bio-Plant” technique which would produce an effluent quality suitable for re-use.

For even bigger size plants up to 10,000 m3/d (50,000 P. E.) DEVISE has a “Smart Package Solution” using a combination of High-Rate treatment processes and clever design & engineering in order to provide a compact and packaged plant which can be relocated if required.  For this type of design the MBBR-IFAS process is materialised in steel panel bolted tanks erected on site.

The wastewater quality of industrial effluents varies a lot depending on the type of industry. Even in the same industry one can observe significant differences in characteristics of the wastewater to be treated.  For this reason each application needs a specific design and approach to suit the requirements of the client.  Many other parameters also enter the difficult equation that process designers and engineers have to resolve so to produce the most suitable solution for treatment of industrial effluents.

DEVISE’s technical approach in such applications is characterised by the analytical investigation of the wastewater quality and its treatability and the provision of a solution that is implemented using compact and prefabricated units as much as possible.  This last feature greatly benefits the industrialists, as it requires much less plan – foot area than conventional methods and also provides a solution that limits the disruption of the factory’s business.
