Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems for Coal - Mining - Coal Mining
Purification of wastewater; Mineral processing plants usually use nearby ground (well water) water. The structural properties of these waters play an important role in processes such as mine separation and enrichment. When the chemicals used in these facilities are mixed with water, purified water is used to maximize the effect.
It is recommended to establish a wastewater treatment plant for the water released in mineral processing processes . Processes in this plant generally consist of coagulation, flocculation and settling stages. Pre-filtration, softening and reverse osmosis systems are installed so that the water obtained during these stages can be reused in the facility .
In the mining industry, which covers all of the iron and non-ferrous metal ores, coal production and transportation, boron ore, ceramics and soil industry, cement, stone crushing, soil industry and similar industrial establishments, an average of 120 million m3 of water is used annually, according to the researches made in the past years . . 100 million m3 of this used water is discharged and 20 m3 is treated. Most of the treated water is purified by physical and chemical treatment.
Treatment systems are not of a certain standard, but are specially manufactured according to the characteristics of each ore and the processing process.
Wastewater Treatment Systems for Mining Enterprises
In the wastewater treatment of mining enterprises, wastewater must be properly managed in order to prevent water and soil pollution caused by acid or alkali leakage of heavy metals. There are large amounts of heavy metals, acids, alkalis, suspended solids, color, turbidity, organic and inorganic pollutants in mining wastewater.
In the wastewater treatment plant, physical treatment processes such as sieving and stripping are applied to remove suspended solids, oil, grease and other foreign materials. Chemical treatment, such as sedimentation, neutralization, and stabilization, followed by these processes, involves the precipitation of colloidal and suspended solids as sludge. Treatment methods such as oxidation ponds, activated sludge treatment and trickle filters enable the removal of dissolved organic matter by biological processes.
Depending on the desired final water quality, advanced treatment options such as chlorination, reverse osmosis, membrane filtration and electro-deionization may be preferred to remove inorganic impurities at the molecular level.
