Verisae helped Ahold develop an understanding not only of Ahold’s direct emissions impact, but also the impact of the supply chain and consumers. Ahold worked with a number of external consultants Arthur D Little, DHV, ERM and Verisae to analyze the information and develop goals and targets in the area of climate action.

Company Profile

Ahold USA is a large grocery retailer in the United States with more than 740 locations. It operates under two main banners, Stop n’ Shop and Giant Food Stores. It is the United States subsidiary of Ahold, headquartered in Belgium.

Business Benefits

The carbon inventory showed that the total amount of CO2 emitted annually (the absolute emissions) was 2,475 thousand tonnes. This includes fuel, gas and electricity consumption and emissions of refrigerants leakage. Ahold also included third-party data in the calculations to represent distribution centers, transport and stores.
