ANALYSIS OF PUMP VIBRATION AND NOISE

The principle of the centrifugal pump is simply that when the impeller rotates at a high speed, the liquid between the blades is driven to rotate. Due to the centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown from the center of the impeller to the outer edge of the impeller. The flow channel gradually expands, the liquid flow rate gradually decreases, and part of the kinetic energy is transformed into static pressure energy, so the liquid flows out along the discharge port at a higher pressure, so it is called a centrifugal pump. In the case of improper handling, the centrifugal force generated by the impeller will cause the pump to vibrate and abnormal noise. When the pump vibration and noise are found to be abnormal, it should be shut down immediately for inspection.

1. Check pump foundation.

When vibration occurs, first check whether the anchor bolts of the centrifugal pump are fastened. Also consider whether the foundation strength is enough, sometimes due to design reasons, the soft foundation can also cause vibration.

2. Check the rotor part

Check whether the static (dynamic) balance of the impeller is out of tolerance, whether the shaft is bent, whether the radial runout is out of tolerance. Whether the impeller is blocked.

3. Check the transmission part.

Whether the transmission parts such as couplings and belts are aligned or not, the misalignment of the center is also a common cause of vibration, and it must be adjusted within the prescribed range in strict accordance with the standard.

4. Check the piping system.

The NPSH of the pipeline is less than the NPSHr of the pump, which makes the pump produce cavitation in operation, the characteristics of the pipeline do not match that of the pump, and the inlet and outlet pipeline of the pump has no support or although there is support, the support is not strong.
