The new TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) Portal V16 from Siemens includes a new technology object for the Simatic Ident identification system. With the TO_TagLayout technology object, users can centrally edit a layout for the symbolic addressing of all data on Simatic RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) transponders. This means that the transponder layout for the whole production can be defined and edited at only one location and transferred from there to all other plants. This method saves time, while central data management also reduces the probability of errors in the event of changes to the layout.
With a new technology object for Simatic Ident in TIA portal V16, Siemens is offering users a means of centrally editing a layout for the symbolic addressing of all data on Simatic RFID transponders.
When a user edits the layout, he can create the symbolic names and data types. He also defines the length of data objects, which makes data handling much easier. If something changes in terms of the data structure on the transponder due to production, the technology object also makes handling easier for the user because the data structure only has to be adapted at one location.
Symbolic names reduce error sources
The data structure of the transponder is stored in the TIA portal in a separate data block. This data block defines the symbolic names specified using the Transponder Layout Editor. The user uses these names to address the data. Physical addresses are no longer necessary, which helps avoid errors. For data exchange, two modules Read_Tagfield and Write_Tagfield have been added to the Simatic Ident library, which enable error-free access to data objects on the transponder.
