The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals recognize that efforts to eliminate poverty and inequality must go hand in hand with strategies to tackle climate change, ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss, food and water insecurity, and spread of disease. Fundamental human rights may depend on access to, and benefits from, natural resources.
