Digital Calibrator Accuracy Table for TEGAM 940 Series Thermocouple Calibrators
Sometimes when you develop a data table for one purpose, you find that it can be even more useful for another purpose. This is what happened when we developed these 100°C accuracy tables. One of our engineers looked at the tables and said, “This is great.” His observation was that the table could also help users to select the proper thermocouple type to use for an application's temperature range. The table shows you the accuracy over the total range of all the thermocouple types that the temperature calibrator can read/simulate.
Using this table, you can see the accuracy and the thermocouple range and select the best thermocouple type to cover the total range you need, and with the best accuracy in the most critical range of your system. You still should consider atmospheric compatibility of the thermocouple types, but this table gives you the temperature and accuracy at a glance. A good example is that if your critical temperature is around 1000°C and you want to use base metal thermocouples, Types K, J, and N will cover the range, but the calibrator accuracy is higher for Types J and N at 1000°C. Type J has an iron leg and is not good in an Oxygen environment at high temperatures so your selection would be Type N for the best accuracy.
