For safety and insurance purposes, most if not all mechanical codes have requirements with regards to fire safety for materials used in a building’s HVAC systems. For instance, the State of Ohio (USA) MechanicalCode states in the section on “Air Filters” that:Media-type and electrostatic-type air filters shall be listed and labeled.
