The Challenge
KAZ Minerals Group is a high growth copper company focused on large scale, low cost open pit mining, with a proven track record for the successful delivery of greenfield mining projects. It is a high profile company in Kazakhstan and employs around 13,000 people.
Emex was chosen for the second time in 2015 following an internal re-organisation. The system selected needed to be user friendly, easily integrated with a reporting feature that allowed data to be captured in an easy manner, and provide insights into their requirements.
The platform selected needed to be fully localised into Russian and strong in incident management, risk assessment and auditing. The Group needed a single HSE reporting system with easy integration for all subsidiaries, accessible all in one place.
Together with KAZ Minerals, Emex supported customisation to comply with International Council on Mining and Metal (ICMM) requirements. They were able to create insightful dashboards from their data to help improve business processes.

Emex delivered a user friendly solution that captured data easily, and allowed KAZ Minerals to automate their Corporate Sustainability Reporting process using the Emex Data Capture and Reporting modules – giving stakeholders more insight.
Within the Emex incident module, KAZ Minerals Group unified and centralized Incident Management and Reporting processes. The mobile app recently launched and Group expects employee engagement in safety culture to increase.
