New Non-Road Regulations in USA and Europe

Earlier this year, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced Tier 4 emissions standards for diesel engines in non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), which will come into force between 2008 and 2015.The European Union (EU) has also published its own, equivalent rules. Although the two sets of regulations are structured very differently, the effect is the same: a 90% reduction in particulate matter (PM) emissions from the already strict Tier 3 standards, starting in 2011 and a 90% reduction in levels of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) by 2014.
