Blast from the past: revisiting an early customer of Aquobex flood-resilience products

A recent video (below) from the Ox-Cam Pathfinder Project, part of a mini-series of interviews to encourage Property Flood Resilience (PFR), was an interesting find for us. Not only does the 5-part series discuss the various flooding problems residents and small business owners find themselves in, but the measures undertaken in this episode by Sue in Berkshire include some of the first Aquobex PFR products.

Though learning the flood risk for your area is relatively straightforward (you can do so here), predicting the next flood is a different matter entirely. This was the case for Sue, who had arrived with an estate agent to make some measurements of her newly purchased flat, only to be met with the village of Datchet experiencing its worst flooding since 1947.

The response from Sue was a careful and comprehensive one. Sump Pumps outside the property, an “incredibly secure” Aquobex Kitemarked Flood Door and our Floodguard Clip-in Barrier for the back door form an integral part of her flat’s current flood resilience. It is a prime real-world application of the flood protection industry’s progress and increasing variety of flood protection measures suitable for residents, many without the need for custom flood solutions. Indeed, our new online shop serves exactly that purpose.

As shown in the video, flooding can have a have major impact on a resident’s mental as well as financial health, highlighting the value in thorough flood protection methods to prevent future catastrophe.
