This company’s purpose is to provide expert scientifi c and technical advice on marine and freshwater fi sheries, aquaculture, and the protection of the aquatic environment and its wildlife.
Application: Determination of PCBc and PBDEs in fish tissue, shellfish and sediments
To extract trace organics from various marine sediments and biota for analysis by GCMSD, end results being used for marine assessments and monitoring.
Equipment: Syncore® Analyst R-12, V-710 and Chiller B-740/14
The Syncore is used to evaporate the initial extracts from the PLE extractions and also for all subsequent fractions produced by the clean up and fractionation steps in the methods.
Benefit / Conclusion:
The key benefi t is that Syncore can deal with multiple samples and, as it’s a closed system, it reduces the possibilities of airborne contamination of the sample. We have two platforms, using the 6-rack for larger volumes and using the 12 rack for smaller volumes. The automated operation also helps speed up analysis as lab personnel can be doing other work whilst the evaporation proceeds.
