Triangle Manufacturing in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey - Case Study
Triangle has a rich history that started 60 years ago and has strong roots in the New Jersey community. As it has grown from its three founders to the 250 employees that work there today, it has become a high-end machine shop that specializes in manufacturing medical implant parts.
The Problem
Triangle Manufacturing’s machining process generates approximately 62,500 gallons per year of waste machine coolant, air compressor condensate, floor scrubber water, parts washing water and rinse. It has a high priority to be green and is motivated to reduce the amount of waste coolant leaving the plant. Triangle was paying a waste hauler $0.90/gallon to take the spent coolant away, with a annual cost of over $56,000!
The Solution
The solution was to install a RunDry Evaporator! Since multiple buildings were located at the site and additional capacity for the future was desired, two 35gph RunDry Evaporators were installed. These evaporators are designed to RunDry, which means all the water is gone, leaving only oil, solids and some concentrated coolant chemicals
The Results
Now that the RunDry Evaporators are installed, Triangle Manufacturing is starting to reap the benefits. The waste coolant feed tanks are continually refilled. The operator sets the evaporator to run on autofill until each unit has processed about 2,000 to 2,500 gallons of waste. At that point, the operator turns off the auto-fill and starts the process of running the evaporator dry.
The Savings
Triangle Manufacturing is leaving the world a better place for future generations with their new, greener approach to manufacturing. Also, since the RunDry units evaporate the water at a cost of $0.08/gallon, it is saving $51,000 per year!
