Venturi tubes for fusion reactor - Case Study
Dosch is supporting a large-scale scientific experiment concerning fusion energy
ITER is a large-scale scientific experiment aimed at demonstrating the technological and scientific feasibility of fusion energy. The ITER facility in Cadarache, southern France is designed to generate 500 MW of fusion energy from 50 MW of input power, making it the very first fusion experiment to generate net energy on the bottom line.
Linde Kryotechnik AG supplied the cryogenic helium distribution system for the fusion reactor, which was put into operation in 2021. We manufactured more than 30 venturi tubes with nominal sizes from 25 to DN 200 for this unique project. Special requirements for our measuring instruments included extensive tests in advance, such as special welding approvals and also helium leak tests for each individual component. The order volume for our company alone was around €150,000.00.
