-4H- FerryBox - Autonomous Low-Maintenance Measuring System

The -4H- FerryBox is an autonomous, low-maintenance measuring system, which is designed for the continuous operation onboard ships, on measurement platforms and at river banks. The -4H- FerryBox as a fixed installed system provides the ideal basis for extensive and continuous long-term monitoring while maintenance efforts are kept to a minimum. The integrated automatic cleaning system ensures a high data availability.

-4H- PocketFerryBox - Mobile Measuring System for Field Work

The -4H- PocktFerryBox is designed for high-precision measurements of multiple water parameters and constituents. The compact and user-customized design in a portable case opens new perspectives of monitoring tasks. The possibilities range from stationary monitoring to position-controlled operation onboard small boats. The compact size and weight facilitates this mobile system to be easily carried to the measuring area. The system is designed for autonomous environmental monitoring and is operable with either a power supply unit or a battery.

-4H- - Self Cleaning Monitoring Box (SMB)

The combination of two SMB measuring continuously physical parameters of surface water leads to high efficiency and accuracy of data. The boxed flow-through sensor system works in master-slave mode with one substituting the other during automated cleaning cycles.

The -4H- Debubbler removes unwanted bubbles from your process waters. There are different versions in terms of size, volume, and material of the -4H-debubbler available. Of course we can customize our -4H-debubbler to fit your demands.

Measurement Platforms

-4H- - Environmental Observing Container

The -4H-Environmental Observing Container hosts the -4H-FerryBox for highly precise measurements of water parameters and is equipped with sensors for meteorology. Additionally it can be equipped with a work bench, fridge, water sampler, or any other lab equipment for environmental monitoring. The container is designed for autonomous operation on ships or at harbors, rivers, estuaries, coastlines, and lakes.

-4H- - Active/Passive Sampler

The -4H-Passive Sampler is a flow-through tube array, which can be equipped with different receiving membranes (e.g. diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT), low-density polyethylene or silicone rubber strips).

-4H- - Underwater Node

Underwater nodes provide the necessary infrastructure in terms of e.g. electrical power and data connections to continuously operate complex sensor systems having high power consumption on the seafloor. A stable underwater node technology for shallow water installation (< 300 m) has been developed in the frame of COSYNA (Coastal Observing System for Northern and Artic Seas). The COSYNA underwater node can be installed with a cable connection to shore up to 30 km offshore for a yearround operation. Thus, it provides the opportunity for a continuous observation of processes in the oceans and coastal areas. Since 2014 two COSYNA underwater systems are in operation: one is offshore the German island Helgoland, the second one is installed in the Arctic at 79°N offshore Spitsbergen (Svalbard).

Mesocosms are partially closed experimental outdoor systems to be used for simulation of biological, chemical and physical processes. Mesocosms provide the opportunity to fill the methodological gap between laboratory experiments and field observations.
