Acousti block Roll 3mm (1.37m wide 9.15m long) Acousti block is a unique UL classified (Underwriters Laboratories Inc) sound insulating material with a high insertion loss and a high density, which is used as an architectural solution to reduce sound transmission. It contains no lead or asbestos. Acousti block is generally used as part of a cavity construction for walls, ceilings or floors. It is usually stapled to wooden (spring) lines or screwed to metal studs after which the drywall is attached. Each layer of 3mm Acoustiblok reduces the sound transfer by 30dB depending on the frequency (see Riverbank Lab test results). It gives a better noise reduction of lead treatments. A typical plaster wall has sound insulation of approximately 33 to 35 STC.
