The BioTox Kit is used for the determination of toxicity of water soluble samples. The inhibitory effect of the sample on the light emission of luminescent bacteria, Aliivibrio fischeri (formerly Vibrio fischeri), is measured with a luminometer. The BioTox Kit provides a rapid, easy to use method for measuring toxicity of aqueous samples such as WASTE WATER, AQUEOUS EXTRACTS AND LEACHATES, FRESH WATER, SEA AND BRACKISH WATER, ELUATES OF SEDIMENT, PORE WATER AND SINGLE SUBSTANCES. This method employs a novel, patent pending sampling and test device called the LumoStix™ to rapidly screen samples for toxicity in the field. Swabs at each end of the device provide both a sampling and test location and the prepared BioTox™ reagent is employed to assess toxicity using a portable luminometer. The LumoStix™ device is easy to use,  and can be adapted for a variety of sample applications. This protocol can be employed for pond, lake, river or sea waters.

Toxicity test for field use for determining the toxicity of any natural water: pond, river, lake or sea! Reagent is optimised for field use, no need for freezer storage during a few weeks trip. Simple and user friendly system. Unlike many other field kits, this test can be used in field conditions. The test sensitivity to reference chemicals (ISO 21338) is comparable to any other method with the same organism. A microplate version of the traditional “pour plate” Ames Test.  The Muta-ChromoPlate^TM Kit is sensitive and user friendly. A convenient test for quantitative measure of total coliforms and E. Coli bacteria. The ColiPlate test is designed to meet regulatory guidelines and quantifies density of target bacteria, coliforms and E. Coli, ranging from 5 to 5,000 colony forming-units (cfu) per 100 mL sample, without dilutions.
