SMART Layer Sensors

Acellent - Single Sensors

For laboratory, testing, and prototyping use, we sell individual SMART Layers®, which consist of a single sensor—either a pizeoelectric (PZT) or digital temperature sensor. The sensor is embedded in the same thin, flexible dielectric carrier film that is used in our multi-sensor networks. However, because it consists of only one sensor, it can be placed anywhere you want, allowing variable and customizable intra-sensor spacing. All of the sensors are wired individually, and then they are connected to the data-acquisition hardware through a multi-channel connection box.

Acellent - Standard Layers

We have a relatively extensive catalog of standard, off-the-shelf SMART Layer® sensor designs, including strips of different lengths as well as circular patterns. These standard designs are suitable for most common applications. They are great for testing/prototyping, and they work equally well in production environments. Our standard designs come preconfigured with a full set of PZT sensors, as well as optional digital temperature sensors.

Hardware - ScanGenie Series

Acellent - Advanced Data-acquisition (DAQ) Hardware

The ScanGenie series is a line of advanced data-acquisition (DAQ) hardware designed to interface with Acellent's proprietary SMART Layer® sensors. These devices are engineered to perform high-fidelity diagnostic signal generation and capture, catering to diverse monitoring needs such as damage detection in metals and composites. The series offers various models, supporting differing numbers of piezoelectric (PZT) sensor channels, from the portable ScanGenie Mini with up to 32 PZT sensors ideal for laboratory use, to the rugged ScanGenie IV supporting up to 128 sensors for both lab and field applications. The ScanGenie Wireless variants, both Mini and Pro, incorporate autonomous operation capabilities with on-board data storage and remote deployment functionalities, making them suitable for harsh environments. All models integrate seamlessly with Windows-based systems using the SHM Pro software suite, providing a comprehensive solution for structural health monitoring across industries like aerospace and civil infrastructure.
