Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMS)
Acuren has 3 laboratories with scanning electron microscopes (SEMs) for evaluation of materials and components. These SEMs are capable of magnifications up to 200,000x for exceptional image resolution and depth of field. Our microscopes are equipped with EDXA analyzers for simultaneous chemical analysis of the microscopic features. Acuren’s engineers and microscopists use these microscopes to examine and document critical features of fracture surfaces, metal wear particles, corrosion deposits, air filter samples, and hazardous materials such as asbestos. Our forensic analysis, product evaluation and root cause failure analysis are completed to the highest industry standards by using these SEMs.
Stress & Strain Analysis
Stress & strain analysis measures loading, service stresses, and dimensional changes of components in service. Analysis then determines whether the component can safely withstand the forces it is experiencing. Chemical Analysis
Acuren’s chemists and technologists take a multi-disciplined approach to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective results. Techniques employed in our laboratories include optical emission spectroscopy, atomic absorption, energy-dispersive x-ray analysis, combustion, fire assay and wet chemical analysis. In the field our services include portable optical emission spectroscopy, XRF/PMI alloy analysis. Our services help with alloy sorting, ensuring compliance with materials specifications, evaluating weld procedure acceptability, and identifying unknown materials.Corrosion Engineering Services
