Stormwater Compliance and Permits

The General Industrial Storm Water Permithas technically expiredin Illinois (April 30, 2014). However, the agency has not issued a new general permit, so the previous permit remains in force. Last time they issued the new permit one year late, and we would anticipate a similar delay this year. Therenewal deadline for the General NPDES Storm Water Permitin Illinois is October 31, 2013. This will require a form to request continuing coverage. The form has been expanded to require new technical information. An electronic copy of the the most current SWPPP must also be submitted to the IEPA.

Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Wastes

Admiral’s staff has considerable experience helping clients comply with hazardous waste requirements. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) vigorously enforces hazardous waste rules and assesses fines for violations that can reach several hundred thousand dollars. The Illinois EPA also inspects and enforces the regulations, but not as vigorously.
