Adsorptech applications
Oxygen is used during a furnace campaign to increase throughput, at the end of a furnace campaign to extend the useful life and reduce total emissions, and for new furnaces maximize throughput return on investment (ROI). In all cases, energy use, NOx and particulate emissions are reduced. Every type of glass, from beer bottles to sophisticated computer flat glass, has seen extraordinary quality benefits with the increased use of VPSA oxygen. For fiberglass and mineral wool smelter production, all the same economic and environmental benefits are achieved.
Oxygen is used to increase the recovery of desired materials from the source bulk materials. For smelters, new furnace size can be reduced or the efficiency of existing furnaces can be increased all while reducing NOx and particulate emissions.
Oxygen is used in bleaching processes and water treatment such as delignification, white liquor, black liquor and water quality management within the mill. Increased mill capacity, improved boiler or lime kiln recovery, ozone production, odor control and sludge treatment are some of the VPSA oxygen use benefits.
Oxygen is used in a variety of technologies to reduce the amount of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes to both improve environmental quality and to provide a renewable higher-value syngas energy source. By lessening the quantity of nitrogen used in processes such as plasma gasification, output product gases are of a higher quality, thereby achieving meaningful economic recovery of environmentally friendly byproduct gases and solids.
Oxygen or air can be used as the feed gas to an ozone generator with distinct advantages. VPSA oxygen results in 2 to 3 times more ozone production from a given ozone generator. Compared to both air and liquid oxygen feed gas, VPSA oxygen product composition is beneficial to ozone generators. VPSA oxygen has a beneficial concentration of nitrogen and extremely low hydrocarbons in the product gas each of which help lower ozone generator maintenance, improve reliability and extend the ozone generator useful life.
