The barrel fan is powder coated for easy cleaning. The motor is mounted in front of the blades... This allows the air-flow from the fan to cool the motor using its own natural air-flow. Also, the motor mounts are air straighteners, which actually focuses the air stream and blows much further than conventional fans.
