Cranes are very commonly used in the construction industry. Unfortunately, in addition to their usefulness, they can pose a significant hazard for workers if they are not used properly and inspection requirements are not followed. In this course, you will learn crane safety requirements, including inspections, the use of suspended personnel platforms, the requirements for crane operators, and recognizing and avoiding common hazards. Note: This course includes the regulatory changes that are effective November 8, 2010.

OSHA estimates that due to falls from elevations covered under subpart M, every year at least 68,000 injuries and 95 fatalities occur. One OSHA study of 99 fall-related fatalities suggests that virtually all of those deaths could have been prevented by the use of guardrails, body belts, body harnesses, safety nets, covers, or other means which would reduce employee exposure to the fall hazard.This course teaches employees to use fall protection systems in construction settings. Main topics include: the OSHA fall protection standards, fall protection systems, selection of fall protection measures, and inspection and maintenance of fall protection systems.
