AFL AlumaCore OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) is preferred for its central aluminum pipe and color-coded fiber optic buffer tubes which simplify the splicing process while providing optimum fiber protection as well as long term product reliability.

AFL CentraCore Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) is preferred for its compact size and ability to house up to 96 fibers in a diameter starting at only 12mm. Its small profile offers an exceptional solution to the diameter and weight concerns on many of today’s overloaded transmission towers where an existing shield wire needs to be replaced with an OPGW cable. With the fiber-bearing stainless steel tube securely protected in a hardened aluminum pipe then covered with a layer(s) of aluminum clad steel and/or alloy wires, this condensed design offers a more robust configuration than those options with only a bare stainless steel tube covered by wires. 

AFL HexaCore Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) cable utilizes fiber-bearing stainless steel tubes stranded alongside aluminum clad steel and/or aluminum alloy wires to create a multi-layer cable design suitable for a variety of environmental and geographical conditions. HexaCore OPGW was developed in response to the demand for higher fiber counts, specifically those greater than 96. For traditional OPGW designs, as the fiber count increased, so too did the cable diameter and weight. However, the advent of placing optical fibers into small diameter stainless steel tubes has allowed for smaller cable sizes with higher fiber counts, thereby furthering the expansion of OPGW into even more applications.

High fiber count Loose Tube and Riser Rated Indoor/Outdoor Loose Tube Cable assemblies provide a safe and proven method of utilizing preterminated connector technology for outside plant applications. These assemblies help control cost by eliminating labor-intensive field termination and provide the same factory terminated reliability the industry has trusted for many years. Cable assemblies are available in Indoor/Outdoor Loose Tube, suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor applications. Each unit is manufactured to exceed all TIA and Telecordia requirements.

MPO cable assemblies provide a high performance plug-and-play solution for premise installations where space is a premium. Used to interconnect panels or cassettes, the small diameter MicroCore® cable construction reduces the required pathway space and provides a flexible outer jacket in both single-mode and multimode configurations. Multiple breakout options are also available including LC, SC, ST, or FC single fiber connectors.
