Battery Recycling Method - Dry-Technology
The recycling method - Dry-Technology - we have developed represents the latest technology which raises the degree of material recovery from batteries and accumulators to a new level, and it makes handling of their reactive materials safe. We receive, store and sort Ni-Mh, Li-ion, Ni-Cd, and lead accumulators and alkaline batteries. After our processes we send them in respective specific form of existence for continued handling, e.g. to foundries. We also handle and recycle WEEE-items in an enviromentally sustainable manner.
Recycling of Ni-MH Batteries
Typical rechargeable batteries used at homes are Ni-MH batteries. These contain high amounts of metals, the most valuable of these are nickel and cobalt. AkkuSer recycles these batteries using its own Dry-Technology method, which is a mechanical process based on crushing followed by magnetic/mechanical separation. The outputs of the process are metal concentrates which are delivered as raw material to metal refineries. This process developed by AkkuSer enables efficient and safe recycling of Ni-Mh batteries. Efficient dust and gas treatment minimizes the environmental impact and maximizes the recovery of valuable metals. Process uses no water, chemicals or heating so it doesn’t produce any related emissions.
Recycling of Alkaline Batteries
Majority of the collected spent portable batteries are alkaline batteries. These batteries contain reusable metals such as zinc and iron. AkkuSer recycles these batteries using its own Dry-Technology method, which is a mechanical process based on crushing followed by magnetic/mechanical separation. The outputs of the process are metal concentrates which are delivered as raw material to metal refineries. This process developed by AkkuSer enables efficient and safe recycling of alkaline batteries. Efficient dust and gas treatment minimizes the environmental impact and maximizes the recovery of valuable metals. Process uses no water, chemicals or heating so it doesn’t produce any related emissions.
Recycling of Other Battery Types
Recycling of Ni-Cd Batteries
The sorted pure Ni-Cd batteries are packed according to transport regulation and delivered to appropriate recycling facilities. Materials such as cadmium and nickel are recovered for reuse.
Recycling of Lithium-Primary Batteries
The sorted pure Lithium-primary batteries are packed according to transport regulation and delivered to appropriate treatment facility.
