Acoustics

Design

Acoustical design first of all deals with the location and the shape of a space as well as with its materials and construction principles. During the design process we concentrate on issues like sound emission and isolation (building acoustics), as well as on absorption, reflection patterns and resonances (room acoustics).

Measurement

Besides the measurements we perform to verify our designs, we are offering as a separate service all possible measurements in the following fields: sound isolation measurements according to ISO 140, SPL measurements of HVAC-noise, measurement of room acoustics parameters, calibration of listening rooms and music studios, calibration of home theatre systems (only sound). Akukon ltd. has accreditation for the measurements according ISO 17025 and is hereby entitled to supply internationally accepted statements and reports.

Audiovisual

Functional Consultancy

Akukon Audiovisual offers functional consultancy services which lay the foundations of feasible performance space design. The functionality of the working environment is ergonomics and usability. The functionality of a performance space means that the facilities, technical systems and information needed are available, practical and in line with the client/user needs. Our theatre consultants are practicing professionals with university level degrees of the arts, audiovisual and education field. The consultancy process is based on understanding the functions, needs and demands of a performance space and its technical and creative facilities – as much in dramaturgical and aesthetical sense as in technical. This expertise is available for the client throughout the whole process from feasibility study and programming to the commissioning and user training/support.

Measurement, Calibration and Setup

Akukon Audiovisual provides the following measurement and setup services: Electro acoustical measurements, calibration and setup of sound reinforcement systems, SPL, time alignment and audio spectrum analysis, Speech intelligibility, STI and RASTI, Noise level measurements for AV equipment, Measurements and calibration of home theatre systems. We use the most recent state-of-the-art computer based measurement systems. Electro acoustical measurements are made in co-operation with our acoustical department with calibrated B&K and Norsonic measurement equipment.

Research, Development and Education

Education and training

User training is a vital part of running and maintaining a performance space. Taking full advantage of the new systems and spaces creatively and effectively is possible only if the start up training process is correctly tailored for the user`s needs. We have both pedagogical and contextual competence to tailor the user training according to the clients` needs. Most of our consultants are regular lecturers in universities, polytechnic and arts schools and other educational institutions. We have a wide network of professional specialists and lecturers to cover all aspects of user training needs.
