Kitchen Protection Systems

AMEREX - Mechanical Release Module

The Mechanical Release Module (MRM) is the heart of the Amerex Kitchen Fire Suppression System. The MRM features a spring-loaded design, using a mechanical input and electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic outputs. Specifically, the MRM assembly connects and controls the actuation cartridge, detection components, manual pull station(s), gas valve, snap-action switches, and agent cylinder discharge valve(s). The Amerex KP MRM is capable of actuating from one to ten agent cylinder/valve assemblies using one nitrogen cylinder. The MRM has two snap-action switches - one for electrical signaling, power shutdown, and other auxiliary functions, and a second alarminitiating snap-action switch for connection to a fire alarm panel. It comes pre-installed in its own stainless-steel enclosure. This enclosure displays a system status indicator and a window to observe the nitrogen cylinder pressure.

AMEREX - Pneumatic Release Module

The Pneumatic Release Module (PRM) is a mechanical releasing control unit that offers superior detection by using a continuous linear pneumatic detection system instead of intermittent fusible link detectors. When the PRM detection line is exposed to a fire condition, the tubing ruptures, relieving all pressure in the tubing and accumulator, thus firing the system using a nitrogen cylinder. Some benefits of using the Amerex PRM in your Kitchen Fire Suppression System include no detection cable, no crimps, and no conduit or corner pulleys required in the detection line.

AMEREX - Strike Control Unit

The Amerex Strike Control Unit is the result of years of rugged mining, transit and military electronic evolution. Specifically designed to work with the Amerex Kitchen Fire Suppression System, the Strike Control Unit is able to monitor and release two completely separate hood systems, and it can be tied into auxiliary controls such as the building’s alarm system. Primary and secondary batteries provide continuous, uninterrupted fire detection and fire suppression system actuation without the need for an external power supply. Unlike traditional control mechanisms, the Strike Control Unit utilizes Linear Heat Detectors and Spot Heat Detectors that have no moving parts are fully supervised, minimizing the negative effects of grease build-up.

Fire Extinguishers

AMEREX - Multi-Purpose Fire Extinguishers

ABC or Multi-Purpose Fire extinguishers utilize a specially fluidized and siliconized mono ammonium phosphate dry chemical. It chemically insulates Class A fires by melting at approximately 350°F and coats surface to which it is applied. It smothers and breaks the chain reaction of Class B fires and will not conduct electricity back to the operator.

AMEREX - Water Fire Extinguisher

The Amerex Model 240 fire extinguisher is designed to combat Class A fires, which typically involve standard combustibles such as wood, cloth, paper, and many types of plastic. This extinguisher utilizes a robust water stream ranging from 45 to 55 feet, allowing for effective cooling and penetration of materials on fire. Its 55-second discharge time provides ample duration for managing fires, making it suitable even for operators with limited experience. Constructed with a chrome-plated brass valve and polished stainless steel cylinder, the extinguisher is engineered to resist corrosion. It is sold with a 5-year manufacturer`s warranty but requires filling before initial use. Amerex, as part of the McWane family of companies, underscores its commitment to quality with ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certifications, assuring adherence to environmental and manufacturing standards.

AMEREX - Stored Pressure Dry Chemical Hand Portable Extinguishers

The Purple K fire extinguisher contains specially fluidized and siliconized potassium bicarbonate dry chemical which is particularly effective on Class B flammable liquids and pressurized gases. It is electrically non-conductive. PURPLE K fire extinguishers have been the choice of oil, gas, chemical and utilities industries as the preferred fire-fighting agent. The Amerex Purple K fire extinguisher features a stored pressure design, dependable drawn-steel cylinders and all-metal valve construction. Easy and economical to maintain and service, these fire extinguishers come with a 6-year manufacturer’s warranty.

AMEREX - Stored Pressure Dry Powder Extinguisher

The Amerex class D fire extinguisher features a “soft flow” extension applicator that is particularly suited for fighting CLASS D fires. It allows the operator to stand away from the extreme heat and toxic fumes caused by burning material. The easily controlled, even discharge provides a non-dispersing application of the agent. The extension applicator may be quickly detached to provide a straight stream of chemical where greater range is required. This rugged fire extinguisher features a stored-pressure design, dependable drawn-steel cylinders and comes with a 6-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Vehicle Systems

AMEREX - Vehicle Fire Suppression Systems

Amerex Dry Agent Systems have long been the industry standard for vehicle fire suppression and provide the fastest fire knockdown as well as getting into those hard-to-reach areas where fire might hide. Dry chemical is so effective because of its ability to flow around obstructions to get to the hidden areas where fires start. Water based agents cannot get to these areas allowing the fire to grow and spread. Each system uses vertical or horizontal stored pressure agent cylinders discharging dry chemical at predetermined nozzle flow rates. Dry chemical cylinders are listed to operate within ranges from -65F to 150F (-54C to 65C).

Other Products

AMEREX - Industrial Fire Suppression Systems

The Amerex Industrial Fire Suppression System uses our exclusive ABC (Model 555) dry chemical. Protecting sensitive and valuable property, ABC dry chemical has quick flame “knock-down” and can help to secure Class A fires against re-ignition. Since many hazards involve a variety of fuel sources, our ABC dry chemical, with protection against Class A (wood, paper, pulp), Class B (flammable liquids), and Class C (live electrical equipment) is the agent that is best suited for most Industrial hazards.

AMEREX - Hand Portable Water Mist Extinguishers

The age of battery electric powered vehicles has arrived. More industries, including mining, waste, and transit, continue to shift higher percentages of their fleets to battery electric power. This new technology brings with it new fire hazards. Amerex has developed the new SafetyNet-EV Gas Detection System to protect people against these risks.
