Applied Acoustics - Sub-Bottom Profiling – Sound Source, Sparkers

Applied Acoustics - Sound Source, Sparker

The Dura-Spark L80 has been designed to provide a lightweight stable, repeatable sound source for sub-bottom geophysical surveys. The long-life, durable electrodes produce a consistent pulse signature and keep operational maintenance to a minimum. This provides increased survey efficiency and equipment reliability as the sparker tips rarely need replacement.

Applied Acoustics - Sound Source, Sparker

The Dura-Spark L200 consists of two banks of 100 tips that allow the operator to tune the source from the vessel to its application. Each bank can be fired independently, in Flip-Flop mode, combined with Fire-Delay or a Split-Fire delay. This flexibility, together with selectable source depth, allows the sound source to be used in both shallow and deep waters for multiple seismic data-gathering applications.

Applied Acoustics - Sound Source, Sparker

The Dura-Spark UHD 240/400 system consists of a negative voltage seismic energy source, the CSP-Nv, a sparker sound source with up to 400 long-life tips, connected by a rugged high voltage cable. Designed for high and ultra-high resolution geophysical surveys, and for use with single and multi-channel acquisition systems, the system is capable of providing high quality data with vertical resolution of up to 25cms, in water depths from 5 to 1000 metres.

Applied Acoustics - Sound Source, Sparker

The Dura-Spark UHD 400+400 consists of two decks of 400 tips that allow the operator to tune the source from the vessel to its application. Each deck can be fired independently by its seismic power supply, in Flip-Flop mode, combined with Fire-Delay or a Split-Fire delay. This flexibility, together with selectable source depth, allows the sound source to be used in both shallow and deep waters for multiple seismic data gathering applications.

Applied Acoustics - Delta Sparker

The Delta Sparker is the most powerful sparker available in the applied acoustics range and is intended for deeper penetration sub-bottom profiling. As a multi-tip sparker array, the Delta can be used in UHR multi-channel seismic surveys, utilising 24 or 48 channel streamers during geohazard assessment, construction projects or shallow target 2D exploration.

Easytrak USBL Systems

Applied Acoustics - Easytrak USBL Systems

The comparison between traditional USBL systems and closely coupled INS + USBL solutions highlights significant technological advancements in underwater acoustic positioning. Applied Acoustics has leveraged its expertise to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of these systems. The traditional USBL systems, known for their ease of deployment, are capable of dynamic subsea target positioning via acoustic signal transmission and reception. However, the closely coupled INS + USBL solution integrates an inertial navigation system (INS), providing superior position accuracy even in challenging acoustic environments with high noise levels or a limited line of sight. This synergy between USBL and INS ensures more reliable and precise tracking essential for complex marine operations, such as drilling and construction. The innovation in signal processing with advanced acoustic protocols improves data integrity and minimizes errors, making these systems critical for extended underwater missions.

Applied Acoustics - Advanced Digital Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) System

The Easytrak Nexus 2, Model 2692, is an advanced digital Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) system designed for precise positioning and tracking in marine environments. This second-generation system is engineered for quick deployment and ease of operation, making it ideal for various underwater applications. It employs aae Sigma 2 acoustic protocols, ensuring a robust acoustic link through digital spread spectrum transmissions that offer high security and minimal interference. This enables the system to deliver highly accurate and reliable positioning data over extended operational ranges. Nexus 2 is particularly beneficial for professionals requiring dependable underwater tracking solutions, offering enhanced performance in challenging conditions. Whether for scientific research, offshore construction, or defense applications, the system provides a critical edge in underwater positioning technology.

Positioning Beacons

Applied Acoustics - Micro Beacons for Diver and ROV Positioning

The 1300 Series Micro Beacon by Applied Acoustics has been re-engineered for enhanced versatility, offering improved battery life and superior acoustic protocols, making it suitable for various applications including diver operations and remotely operated vehicles (ROV) tasks. One notable variant, the 1329D, incorporates a 600-meter depth sensor to enhance positional accuracy in shallow water settings. Channel configurations can be adjusted using a USB adaptor cable and dedicated beacon editor software. The 1320A model further extends functionality with an optional remote transducer head, which connects to the main unit via an interconnect lead. This configuration is optimal in scenarios where the transducer needs to be mounted away from electrical noise sources, such as ROV thrusters. Additionally, the beacon can be powered and trickle-charged using an external 24V ROV supply, allowing for extended operation periods. This adaptability in channel selection and operating power source ensures reliability and precision in challenging marine environments.

Applied Acoustics - Activation Transponder

The 1439 Activation Transponder is a combined positioning transponder and triggering device, designed for use in a wide range of subsea control and positioning tasks. Providing the twin functions of confirming safe distance from a target and receiving and acting upon a specified acoustic signal, the 1439 Activation Transponder can be used as a remote trigger in many applications including to actuate a hydraulic valve or inflate a lift bag.
