LIBS
Applied Spectra - Model J200 - Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) Instrument
The J200 LIBS instrument is Applied Spectra’s flagship system. It is designed specifically to handle the most demanding trace element analyses — those requiring high sensitivity and accuracy. With a single-digit ppm level detection limit for many elements in the periodic table, the J200 LIBS is an ideal instrument for challenging quantitative elemental analysis with many sample matrices. The J200 LIBS instrument is well suited for both laboratory analysis and production monitoring applications. The instrument is capable of monitoring single or multiple elements of analytical interest.
Applied Spectra - Model J200 CX - Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) Instrument
The J200 CX Instrument is a next-generation direct solid sampling elemental and isotopic analyzer, powered by LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy). The compact design (footprint of 12″X12″X18″ and weight <50lbs) was engineered for transportability within the laboratory or in the field. Features include large-area elemental mapping with high spatial resolution, high sensitivity and precision, and a controlled chamber environment for accurate bulk, particle or heterogeneous sample analysis. The low cost J200 CX delivers outstanding LIBS analytical performance anywhere you want to analyze your samples.
Tandem LA-LIBS
Applied Spectra Tandem - Model J200 LA-LIBS - Elemental and Isotopic Analysis Instrument
Want it all in one instrument – elemental and isotopic analysis, no sample preparation, and fast throughput? Look no further than the J200 Tandem LA-LIBS instrument, from Applied Spectra. By capturing the emitted light from a laser ablation plasma, the J200 performs rapid spectroscopic analysis while transporting ablated particles to an ICP-MS instrument with high transport efficiency. This revolutionary analytical technique enables exciting new measurement possibilities: analysis of organic and lighter elements, rapid elemental mapping, normalization of ICP-MS signal with plasma emission, and simultaneous measurement of major/trace elements and isotopes.
Applied Spectra Tandem Prism - Model LA-ICP-MS - Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) Instrument
For the first time in the history of excimer (193 nm) Laser Ablation, Applied Spectra has enabled simultaneous LA-ICP-MS and LIBS capability with Tandem Prism . The Tandem Prism is designed to be integrated into our industry leading RESOlution excimer LA Instrument. The Tandem Prism adopts the proven detector technology of LIBS instruments from Applied Spectra and its operating software works with RESOlution in tandem to capture optical emission signal during LA-ICPMS measurement. Tandem LA-LIBS provides access to spatially resolved quantitation of elements such as C, H, O, N and F in addition to the traditional mass spectrometry elements (such as in LA-ICP-MS.) These two techniques complement each other well as every laser pulse for ablation provides both the optical plasma for emission spectroscopy and particles for subsequent analysis by mass spectrometry. The Tandem LA – LIBS analysis approach ensures not only the widest possible elemental coverage but also the widest possible dynamic range.
Helium Thermochronology
Applied Spectra Alphachron - Automated Helium Thermochronology
The Alphachron™ is the first commercially available, automated, integrated and compact turnkey system designed for the extraction and measurement of gases from mineral samples. The Alphachron™ was developed by the CSIRO Division of Exploration and Mining (DEM), and Patterson Instruments, and is now manufactured and marketed by Applied Spectra. The Alphachron™, as a specialist mass spectrometry instrument for geochemists, fits well with Applied Spectra’s product range, expertise and customer base.
Applied Spectra RESOchron - Logical combination for Geoscience Applications
In response to requirements of university and industry partners, the RESOchron instrument was developed to conduct U-Th-Pb-He triple-dating and trace element characterization of mineral chronometers. This instrument answers the needs of applications in basic geoscience research such as tectonics and landscape evolution studies, as well as for industry applications in petroleum basin analysis and mineral exploration. Laser ablation helium thermochronology samples a precisely defined, defect-free volume of the crystal, with a known surface area, thereby overcoming two uncertainties in the traditional method of bulk crystal measurement. Double dates are obtained quickly and at low cost in a compact instrument based on RESOlution Laser Ablation (LA-ICPMS) and Alphachron™ technologies with well established heritage.
