Real-time Vibration Monitoring and Control System

SureDrill - Model AVD - Active Vibration Damper Sub

APS’s Active Vibration Damper (AVD™)* is a standalone downhole tool that autonomously adapts to changing downhole BHA motion in real time to minimize axial, lateral and torsional drill string vibration. The AVD has demonstrated 50% improvements in rate of penetration (ROP) and doubling of bit life in the field due to reduced vibration. Other downhole drill string components, like MWD / LWD tools, also benefit from lower vibration.

Drilling and Optimization

SureSteer - Model RSM675 - Rotary Steerable Motor for Directional Drilling

APS’s SureSteer Rotary Steerable Motor (RSM) combines an advanced-technology rotary steerable steering unit with a drilling motor power section. Using proven “Push-the-Bit” technology and designed with a very small auxiliary equipment footprint, the RSM provides rotary steerable control while continuously rotating the drill string with the optimum power and bit speed for the application.

Logging While Drilling Technology

SureShot - Model MP - Measurement While Drilling (MWD) System

APS’s SureShot™ mud pulse family of directional and directional plus gamma systems provides reliable and flexible Measurement While Drilling (MWD) performance in combination with our second-generation Rotary Pulser – the toughest top-mounted pulser in the industry. This MWD system provides highly accurate azimuth and inclination data for all applications, from straight-hole through horizontal drilling. Rapid and accurate toolface transmission enables the most complex well paths to be drilled with confidence.

APS SureShot - Model EM - Electromagnetic Telemetry MWD System

The APS SureShot™ EM telemetry MWD system communicates by transmitting electromagnetic waves through the formation instead of pressure pulses through a fluid column. Benefits include time saved by transmitting surveys during a connection, high data rates and the ability to operate in conditions where mud pulse telemetry cannot.

SureShot - Model DDS-VMM - MWD Digital Directional Drilling Sensor

This MWD system provides highly accurate azimuth and inclination data for all applications from straight-hole through horizontal drilling. The DDS includes a tri-axial fluxgate magnetometer and three quartz accelerometers in APS’s unique ruggedized package. Simultaneous 16-bit analog-to-digital conversion of all channels assures the best possible directional measurement while rotating. APS Technology offers local NIST-traceable DDS recalibration in China, Russia, Dubai, and the United States, which simplifies R&M logistics and improves asset utilization.

SureShot - Model MWD - Drilling Natural Gamma Sensor

APS’s next-generation SureShot™ MWD natural gamma sensor employs a rugged scintillation counter and photomultiplier mounted in a specially designed package which provides protection against the high levels of shock and vibration encountered in the drilling environment. In addition, this extensively qualified new design offers environmental monitoring capability and lower power consumption, while maintaining back-compatibility with APS’s earlier sensor designs.

SureLog - Model WPR - Wave Propagation Resistivity Tool

APS`s WPR™ Wave Propagation Resistivity sub is a spatially compensated, dual-frequency (400 kHz and 2 MHz), dual spacing device designed for wireline-equivalent logging while drilling (LWD) and measurements after drilling (MAD) services in all well types.

Logging While Drilling

Surelog-IPZIG - At-Bit Inclination and Image Gamma Ray Tool

Operating directly behind the drill bit, the iPZIG at-bit inclination and gamma ray tool provides real-time measurements that reduce directional drilling risk in critical hole sections. The early indication of changes in lithology, delivered by the gamma ray log, helps to accurately land horizontal wells. Designed to operate as two separate subs, a lower sub, located directly above the drill bit, acquires data and transmits data to the upper sub, located above the drilling mud motor. The upper sub provides communication to measurement/logging-while-drilling systems.

SureLog - Model iDNSC - Bulk Density Imaging Tool

The SureLogTM tool family includes the iDNSC*. The iDNSC tool provides a bulk density image along with traditional bulk density, neutron porosity and PE curves. Tool standoff and hole cali-per measurements are also provided by a pair of ultrasonic transducers which can also be used to environmentally correct the neutron porosity curve. The iDNSC density imaging tool records data in an industry leading extra high density format on a large memory module to enable high quality well statistics for calculation of the bulk density curve and the bulk density image. The extra-high resolution imaging tool extracts the detail contained in this large number of nuclear counts by a combination of various techniques providing clarity in 128 sectors, a feature not yet seen on other on density images.
