Solutions
Aqwise - Biomass Carriers Media
The Aqwise Biomass Carriers (ABC) media is the core element of Aqwise’s biological solutions portfolio. It is the result of a long product development process the company commenced two decades ago. The ABC is specifically designed to allow superior process efficiency and stability. Biomass attaches to the protected surface area of the carrier to create layers of active biofilm, which is used to efficiently remove pollutants from the wastewater. The unique open geometry of the media results in better transfer of oxygen, substrate, and nutrients to the attached biomass. The benefit is a more robust and efficient biological process, with a smaller plant footprint.
Solutions - Aerobic Processes
AGAR - Attached Growth Airlift Reactor Technology
The AGAR® (Attached Growth Airlift Reactor) technology is an Aqwise proprietary process that utilizes biofilm grown on carrier media, to aerobically degrade soluble pollutants in wastewater. The AGAR® technology has been successfully implemented in many wastewater treatment plants around the world.
AGAR - Integrated Fixed-film Activated Sludg
The AGAR® (Attached Growth Airlift Reactor) technology is an Aqwise proprietary process that utilizes biofilm grown on carrier media, to aerobically degrade soluble pollutants in wastewater. The AGAR® IFAS (Integrated Fixed-film Activated Sludge) combines a conventional activated sludge process with MBBR into one integrated system. The solution can be implemented in both municipal and industrial markets. The AGAR® IFAS is optimal for upgrading existing activated sludge plants to achieve proper nitrogen removal, or for new plants that require both extensive BOD and nitrogen removal.
AGAR - Roughing Filter System
The AGAR® RF (Roughing Filter) MBBR consists of two biological stages: a preliminary small volume AGAR®MBBR reactor followed by AS (Activated Sludge). This configuration utilizes the MBBR capability to significantly reduce wastewater organic load in a relatively small reactor volume filled with Aqwise Biomass Carriers, followed by the high-quality effluent achievable in an activated sludge system. The initial MBBR phase drastically reduces the high organic load in a relatively short retention time (which translates into a small footprint), and the final reduction of pollutant levels is achieved in the following activated sludge phase. Besides offering an overall footprint reduction compared to an equivalent activated sludge system, the AGAR® MBBR offers a buffer against shock loads or inhibitory substances, protecting the downstream activated sludge from process upsets.
AGAR - Media Clarifier System
The Aqwise AGAR® Media Clarifier (AGAR® MC) is an innovative patented solid-separation technology, designed specifically for MBBR effluent. The AGAR® Media Clarifier was developed by Aqwise to cope with the unique characteristics of suspended solids and sloughed biomass from an MBBR WWTP. The revolutionary AGAR® MC uses carefully tested hydraulic flow patterns alongside Aqwise’s media, to create the ideal clarifier for MBBR effluents. The system can be easily installed in either concrete reactors, steel/plastic tanks or pre-fabricated containerized units. The AGAR® MC is a proven technology with dozens of installations in various global locations. The MC can reach TSS levels under 30 mg/l without the use of chemicals.
Solutions - Anaerobic Processes
DACS - Downflow Anaerobic Carrier System
Anaerobic biological treatment for wastewater is a very effective technology, particularly for heavily loaded large-scale industrial applications, mainly in the Food & Beverage and Pulp & Paper markets. In anaerobic conditions, wastewater is converted into biogas with low excess sludge, hence presenting a highly cost-effective treatment method. DACS® (Downflow Anaerobic Carrier System) is an innovative breakthrough in the field of anaerobic wastewater treatment. It is a patented high rate anaerobic process utilizing Aqwise Biomass Carriers at a unique hydraulic pattern, resulting in a highly flexible design and stable performance.
