Since ATEX and DSEAR regulations have become mandatory, many equipment manufacturers and end users have approached us for a turnkey service.  They are particularly annoyed about the large quantity of “New Experts” who have suddenly sprung up, offering ATEX/DSEAR services.  Many of these have only a 2 day ATEX course and some minimal industrial experience to offer, as competency in Explosive Atmosphere Compliance.

Dust Explosion Safety Services

Dust Safety Science has released its annual Combustible Dust Incident report 2021 which captures and details combustible dust incidents from around the globe. The report shows that in total, 163 fires and 53 explosions caused 215 injuries and 69 fatalities during 2021. Comparatively 165 fires and 60 explosions caused 88 injuries and 10 fatalities during 2020. 250 fires and 75 explosions resulted in 118 injuries and 8 fatalities during 2019. Before that, in 2018, 213 fires and 68 explosions caused 114 injuries and 23 fatalities. Over 4 years Dust Safety Science have logged 960 fires, 357 explosions, 720 injuries and 126 fatalities from more than 40 countries.

ATEX Regulations Services

Irish factories Act in 1955 position on explosions: “In the case of a process giving rise to dust of such a character and to such an extent as to be liable to explode on ignition, then, unless the plant is so constructed as to withstand the pressure likely to be produced by any such explosion, all practical steps shall be taken to restrict the spread of the effects of such an explosion by the provision, in connection with the plant, of chokes, baffles, and vents, or other effective appliances”.
