B&P’s Podbielniak® Contactor (POD®) is a horizontal liquid liquid centrifugal extractor that processes liquids for accelerated solvent extraction. The two main functions of this machine are liquid liquid separation (must have specific gravity difference of .01 or greater) and the liquid-liquid extraction process through counter-current flow. This separation technology is often selected for temperature-sensitive operations, when trying to reduce footprint and solvent inventory from a tower, and when speed of process is important. The POD® has been in service for over 60 years and is still finding new applications where other liquid liquid separation or extraction processing equipment cannot perform. Liquid-Liquid Extraction, or liquid liquid separation, is the removal of a soluble constituent from one liquid by means of transferring it to another.

B&P Littleford`s Liquid Solid Separation Centrifuges are known for relentless productivity in the separation of coarse solids from free-draining crystalline slurries. The products flow in a gentle, single-stage, handling and washing as they are transported through the basket. Our specialists design and construct the Pusher for standard products, but can also customize it in cooperation with customers for special or difficult solid separation applications to optimize efficiency and meet individual requirements.

In Liquid Solid Separation, or Liquid-Solid Extraction, a solvent (hydrophilic or hydrophobic, acidic, neutral or basic) is added to a solid forming a slurry. Insoluble material can be separated by gravity or vacuum filtration, and soluble material is "extracted" into the solvent. A sequence of solvents, of varying polarity or pH, can be used to separate complex mixtures into groups.

B&P Littleford’s TriVolution® Compounder is a very distinct mixing machine that reciprocates the process screw 3 times for every 1 revolution. The flights interact with pins in the barrel much in the same way a continuous kneader does.
