Since the 80’s, Balcan has developed a range of vial crushers specifically designed for that purpose. In designing these machines, Balcan took into account the problems associated by the varieties of the liquid contents and the risks which can so easily occur with excessive aerosols being generated at fast operating speeds.
Balcan - Model Mk2M - Manual Vial Crusher
The Mk2 range of Balcan Vial Crushers, both manual & pneumatic, are fitted with a unique adjustable breaking chamber, allowing the models to accept, crush and empty a variety of glass containers from 1ml (8mm diameter) A/S vials up to 100ml sizes. Intended to handle containers which, due to their contents, should not be disposed of whole, an adjustable breaking chamber ensures that none will pass through unbroken once correctly set. Nor will it become clogged or jammed (particularly in the case of very small sizes) with plastic, rubber or metal closures. The merit of this style of chamber is that once set correctly, minimal effort is required to crush everything.
Balcan - Model Mk2P - Pneumatic Vial Crusher
As with the Balcan Mk2M manual vial crusher, the Mk2 pneumatic version is made of stainless steel and operates using the same principle of an eccentrically mounted roller with adjustable breaking chamber. This principle ensures that once set up for the particular size of vial, nothing will pass through unbroken. Once crushed, liquids drain under the glass and out the front where they can be collected in a suitable container. The unit can also be mounted on its own cart for maximum portability. The cabinet below can hold a drum to receive the liquid draining from a tube attached to the front of the draw.
Balcan - Model Mk4P - Pneumatic Vial Crusher
A larger version of our Mk2 crusher, the Mk4P vial crusher is pneumatically operated. Depending upon the size of container, from 2 – 100 ml sizes, the MK4P has a capacity to crush up to approximately 40,000 per hour, the average being 20,000 per hour! The Mk4P (pneumatic) model has been designed to cope with the continuous production of much larger numbers of waste containers found within the pharmaceutical and research and development industries. Originally designed to handle normal thin walled glass vials, it has been considerably strengthened to be able to cope with much thicker walled containers up to small bottles of 100ml capacity, as used in this industry.
Balcan - Model VC8000 - High Capacity Vial Crusher
The Balcan VC8000 vial crusher is the Balcan’s high capacity unit. Straying away from the pneumatically operated system balcan has favoured for many years, the VC8000 comes with ATEX (sparkproof) motor to ensure high levels of safety when crushing vials containing volatile or flammable liquids. Operated by contra rotating rollers it is infinitely adjustable and vials down to 2ml (1ml depending on diameter) are easily crushed. Caps, bungs and enclosures are no problem for the crusher. Crushed product drops onto a vibrating mesh where 99% of the liquids drop through into a suitable drum beneath. Glass and solid product are collected at the end in drum.
