PETREL Bay Instruments quadrupole mass spectrometer is designed for versatility in gas analysis using membrane inlet and other gas inlet devices. Our novel design offers one click pump-down of inlets during start-up or change-overs. Filament damage and vacuum losses are prevented using software and hardware that monitors the inlet. A quick-connect fitting that adapts to multiple devices allows easy change-over of inlets, including our high precision membrane, membrane cuvette and capillary gas inlet.

WALZ has just introduced the new WATER-PAM-II Chlorophyll Fluorometer, a small portable instrument for phytoplankton research and water analysis. The WATER-PAM-II is a major upgrade to our popular WATER-PAM, including multicolor LEDs for determining algal composition and extended operation on standard AA batteries. Detecting variable fluorescence of PSI has been challenging because of the spectral overlap of PSII and PSI fluorescence. The versatile configuration of the MULTI-COLOR-PAM has allowed detection of PSI fluorescence using filter sets for long and short wavelength components of chlorophyll fluorescence. Drs. Schreiber and Klughammer report persuasive evidence of variable PSI fluorescence in green algae, cyanobacteria and green plant.
