Toxicity Monitoring
Algae Toximeter - Online Biomonitoring Analyser
An instrument for the fast and sensitive detection of toxic substances in water. The bbe Algae Toximeter continuously monitors water for the presence of toxic substances. Standardised algae are mixed with the sample water and the instrument detects the photosynthetic activity of the algae. Damage to the algae, caused e.g. by herbicides, causes a reduction in algae activity and activates an alarm above a pre-defined threshold.
DaphTox - Biomonitoring Analyser
The bbe DaphTox II observes daphnids, commonly known as `water fleas`, under the influence of constantly running sample water. Based on the Extended Dynamic Daphnia Test, bbe developed a new sensitive method to detect hazardous compounds in water from rivers (source-water protection), plants, distribution systems and production drains to preserve human health and to monitor water.
Fish Toximeter - Real-Time Biomonitoring Analyser
The bbe Fish Toximeter observes the behaviour of fish in a tank under the influence of a stream of `sample` water with the aid of a camera and continuous computer-assisted image analysis. This uncomplicated but highly sensitive instrument is designed to detect toxic substances in e.g. rivers, reservoirs, water supply systems, water treatment plant intakes and sewers. The instrument is based on the development of Extended Dynamic Daphnia Tests (EDDT), a tried and tested detection method in Europe and other parts of the world. Continuous biological monitoring with the bbe Fish Toximeter enables rapid detection of toxic substances in water and provides a real-time, online early warning system.
ToxProtect - Automated Monitoring System
The ToxProtect64 is an automated monitoring system to protect a drinking water supply from accidental or malicious contamination due to harmful substances. The characteristic of these threats is a relatively high concentration of dangerous substances that occurs suddenly. Such situations must be detected quickly and safely. False alarms are reduced to an absolute minimum using the ToxProtect 64. This improves the trust of the operators and reduces unnecessary expenditure.
Chlorophyll Monitoring
AlgaeGuard - Continuous Chlorophyll Measurement Instrument
Distinction of green algae, blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), diatoms and crytophytes in a flow-through chamber - simple, quick and reliable. The AlgaeGuard is designed as a `plug and play` instrument, i.e. measurements are carried out automatically using pre-defined parameter settings immediately after boot-up or by pressing the start button on the touchscreen panel. Continuous configuration by the operater is not necessary. Maintenance is as low as 1 hour per month. Parameters can be changed using the external bbe PC software if necessary.
AlgaeLab - Laboratory Analyser
Determination of chlorophyll-a, algae classes and photosynthesis activity for scientific and routine analysis. The special patterns of algal fluorescence - so-called fingerprints - are used in the AlgaeLabAnalyser and other bbe fluorometers for the qualification of different algae classes. The light sources for the excitation are LEDs with selected wavelengths. The fingerprints of four algae classes and for yellow substances are pre-defined in this instrument. However, special user-specific fingerprints can also be defined. The determination of algal activity (Genty parameter) is performed using an additional background light.
AlgaeOnline - Algae Monitoring Analyser
Online detection of chlorophyll concentration, algae classes and photosynthetic activity. The special patterns of algal fluorescence - so-called fingerprints - are used in bbe fluorometers for the qualification of different algae classes. The light sources for the excitation are LEDs with selected wavelengths. The fingerprints of four algae classes and for yellow substances are pre-defined in the instrument. However, user-specific fingerprints can also be defined. The physiological performance of the algae (algae activity) on photosynthesis is determined by exitation using additional background light.
AlgaeTorch - Portable Chlorophyll and Cyanobacteria Monitoring Device
The new, quick-and-easy, portable measuring instrument for algae monitoring. Switch on, dip in, read off!. The bbe AlgaeTorch is a robust field instrument for the simultaneous quantification of the chlorophyll-a content of cyanobacteria and the total chlorophyll content of microalgae in water. The measurement of chlorophyll-a can eliminate laborious sample preparation in the lab. A complete measurement needs less than 20 seconds. No sampling or preparation is necessary.
BenthoTorch - Phytobenthos Fluorescence Measurement Instruments
A unique, in situ tool for quick and easy measurement of phytobenthos concentrations. The bbe BenthoTorch is a cost-effective tool which enables real-time measurement of benthic algae. It can help to improve ecological status assessment (EU WFD criteria) and optimise field sampling by eliminating the need for random sample-taking and testing, and lengthy microscopic observation. It is a portable field instrument for the in situ quantification of chlorophyll-a fluorescence on different substrates such as stones and sediment, thus, no sample preparation is necessary. The bbe BenthoTorch can complement sampling by showing the biomass data results on the internal display immediately after measurement. A measurement takes up to only 20 seconds to perform.
Fluoro - Probe
The instrument for algae class differentiation and total chlorophyll measurement. The bbe FluoroProbe is a highly sensitive measuring instrument for the analysis of chlorophyll-a with algae class distinction. Individual profiles during the measurements are taken for green algae, blue-green algae/cyanobacteria, diatoms/dinoflagellates and cryptophytes. This enables the analysis of the occurrence and distribution, of e.g. blue-green algae, on site without the necessity of the laboratory. Possible interferences due to yellow substances are eliminated by an integrated CDOM correction factor. The FluoroProbe can quickly and reliably determine the chlorophyll content of different algae classes down to a depth of 100m (optionally 1000 m). The measurement data can be displayed in real time on a PC or be stored in the probe for subsequent evaluation.
