Biological Surveys

Biological surveys are conducted to ensure that activity in a given area does not adversely impact native flora and fauna. Surveys for the presence of sensitive and endangered species are often required prior to beginning work on federally managed lands. Inter-agency coordination is critical for biological surveys, as much of the land in Nevada is managed by a variety of federal agencies. Species may be listed as threatened or endangered at the state level as well as the federal level, and entities working on publicly managed lands must be aware of these designations. Identification of the presence of threatened or endangered species allows organizations and agencies to implement mitigation measures to minimize adverse impacts and protect native species.

Environmental Oversight and Review

Our environmental oversight and review process helps public and private individuals and organizations achieve compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Often, a developer or organization may not be aware of the variety of federal, state and local regulations governing development in a community. Despite precautions, misunderstandings inevitably occur. Environmental oversight and review also addresses the consequences of these misunderstandings and works to ensure that future occurrences are avoided wherever possible.

Health & Safety Compliance

An effective health and safety program includes identification of potential hazards, mitigating those hazards wherever practicable, establishing procedures for responding to incidents, training workers in those procedures, and maintaining awareness of Health and Safety issues through all levels of an organization. A Health and Safety program incorporating these elements not only enables an organization to comply with applicable regulatory requirements, but helps to prevent worker injuries and illnesses. Health and Safety compliance also depends upon knowing what regulations and agency standards are applicable to an organization"s industry and activities.

Wellhead Protection

Wellhead protection is an essential component to protecting Nevada’s limited water resources. BEC Environmental coordinates with government agencies on the local, state and federal levels to promote awareness of drinking water and wellhead protection issues and to identify and implement measures to minimize the chance of a wellhead becoming an avenue for polluting Nevada’s groundwater.
