Automated and Continuous Water Quality Monitoring

The Bio-Sensor® is a highly efficient and cost effective means to continuously monitor water quality. Rapid response time and automated decision making ability can help insure the safety of drinking water supplies or prevent the discharge of toxics into the environment. The Bio-Sensor® automatically and continuously monitors the quality of drinking water, industrial and municipal effluents, and other water supplies. Originally designed and developed by Biological Monitoring, Inc. it combines living organisms, acting as sensors, with advanced computer and electronic technologies.

What These Fish Know Can Hurt You!

Employing fish sensors, the Bio- Sensor® detects the presence of a broad range of toxic substances. Changes in ventilatory behavior and certain locomotor activities are detected immediately through noninvasive electronic sensors in each tank.

Fish signals are amplified, filtered, and interfaced to a computer through the Bio-Amp®. Computer based algorithms continuously monitor and assess each fish’s reaction to the water. When a significant number of fish respond simultaneously in an abnormal manner, an alarm is initiated.
