BioSpec Products - Aluminum Small Chamber

Thick-walled aluminum chamber with Teflon rotor. The working volume is 15 ml. The chamber can be precooled. The superior heat capacity and the 1/2 inch thick aluminum walls keep the sample cold. The SASC-15 can also be combined with the BeadBeater ice water jacket (the later comes standard with the BeadBeater) for strict temperature control.

BioSpec Products - Tube Tickler

The answer for rapid dispersal of packed centrifugal pellets in 2.0, 1.5, and 0.5 ml micro-centrifuge tubes. Inspired by a methods paper in BioTechniques, the Tube-Tickler quickly suspends even firmly sedimented or sticky pellets in seconds. Superior to an ordinary tube vortexer, the microtube is held against a specially designed rotating agitator head. The unique slapping action of the agitator`s head vigorously vibrates and swirls the tube contents. Featuring one-hand operation, the Tube-Tickler is activated by light pressure on the top of the mixer.

BioSpec Products - Jiffy Mixer

The small mixing shaft and head of the Jiffy Mixer are specially designed to stir viscous solutions (like food toppings, lotions, cell paste, epoxy resins, paint - anything that is "flowable"). It thoroughly disperses and/or dissolves multi-part mixtures or suspensions of powders. Where ordinary propeller-type mixers fail due to vortexing, foaming, or inadequate mix action, the Jiffy Mixer cuts mixing times of viscous materials by up to 90%. The unique design eliminates splashing and entrapment of air.

BioSpec Products - Bio Squeezer

The BioSqueezer "snap-freezes" 10-100 mg of soft animal and human tissue. Extremely rapid freezing of a tissue sample produces a glassy state called vitrification - without water crystalization. Applications include the study of rapid events in cell metabolism, improved tissue cryopreservation and recovery from cryobanking, and preparation for cryo-pulverization and cryo-grinding. The BioSqueeezer is easy to use and provides reproducible results. Fresh tissue is compressed into a thin disc about the size and thickness of a small coin under pressure from a stainless steel clamp head that has been pre-cooled in liquid nitrogen or dry ice. Freezing occurs in a few milliseconds, thus offering a "snapshot" of metabolic events in the cells. The hard frozen disc is easily fragmented by grinding and subsequent rapid extraction of labile nucleic acids**, proteins, and other intracellular products.
