Three dimensional (3D) cell cultures are artificially-created environments in which cells are permitted to grow or interact with their surroundings in a 3D fashion. 3D cell cultures improve the function, differentiation and viability of cells and recapitulate in vivo microenvironment compared to conventional 2D cell cultures. 3D matrices provide a physiologically relevant screening platform, by mimicking the in vivo responses, for many cell types including cancer and stem cells in developmental morphogenesis, pharmacology, drug metabolism and drug toxicity studies.

Simple and efficient method for isolation of cell surface proteins. Cell surface proteins play a major role in signal transduction, cell adhesion, transport and serve as diagnostic and pharmacological targets. BioVision’s Cell Surface Protein Isolation Kit provides a simple and efficient method for the isolation of cell surface proteins. In this method, cells are first labeled with Sulfo-NHS-SS-Biotin, an amine-reactive, thiol-cleavable, biotinylation reagent. Cells are subsequently lysed and the labeled cell surface proteins are isolated using Streptavidin beads. The bound proteins are then released from beads by incubating with DTT solution. Biotinylation reagent is cell-membrane-impermeable with an extended spacer arm to reduce steric hindrances associated with streptavidin binding. This convenient kit provides all the required components for optimal labeling and isolation of the cell surface proteins.

The recombinant Blue Fluorescent Protein (BFP) is expressed and purified from transformed E. coli using a method that ensures high purity and maximal BFP fluorescence. The protein is a 29 kDa monomer with 259 amino acids, pI: 6.17. Ex.= 308-383 nm; Em.= 440-447 nm. The protein is engineered with 6xHis-tag on the N-terminal, which can be used for detection with anti-His-Tag antibody, or protein removal by using Ni++ beads.
