Blue Demon Auger Bits

Blue Demon - Auger Bit

Pilot cutting tools available in 1-8 UNC thread and 1 1/4 -5 stub acme thread.

Blue Demon - Drill Head

The Blue Demon BD with BD-2 bits is a 3-wing, prop-type drill head that can increase auger drilling rates by 50% or more in soft to medium formations. Instead of tearing or gouging, the BD Drill Head shears off rock in a shaving action. This eliminates strain on bits and lengthens their effective service life. It also reduces weight needed for rapid penetration and resultant possibility of bits balling up.

Blue Demon - Drill Head

The BDA brings all the advantages of the Blue Demon BD to air drilling. It`s a specially designed tool that substantially increases penetration rates and reduces costs in soft to medium rock formations. When compared with ordinary drill heads with rotating bits, the BDA will cut up to twice the footage daily in soft shales, clays, shells, soft limestone, red beds and other rocks of low compressive strengths.

Blue Demon - Drill Head

The Blue Demon BDC Drill Head was developed to drill in harder formation rock with the same shearing action as our BD and BDA Drill Heads. The BDC Drill Head utilizes the same body, but with a round hole to accept our R-550CS conical bit. This tool comes with a sleeve retainer for maximum holding power in the tool, but can be easily removed from the head with our R-550 puller. The capped carbide is designed to maximize tool life even in the most abrasive conditions. The BDC Drill Head is available in all the same sizes as the BD and BDA Drill Heads and can be made with hex, square, or API threaded connections

Blue Demon - Carbide Bit

BD-2 Bit is precision machined to closest possible tolerances for long, trouble-free service. Its oversized carbide cuts faster...never balls up...retains its original effectiveness far longer. Tapered shank of the BD-2 drive fits into the drillhead without wedges or set screws. It can`t wobble or work loose. And, unlike blade-type drill heads, BD-2 Bits are easily replaced with hammer punch (see below).

Replaceable Blades and Rotary Drag Bits

Blue Demon - Drilling Blade

The Type MP-200 bit was developed specifically for mineral exploration, coal test, foundation test and grout hole drilling. Also commonly used for drilling inside small diameter tubing in both the oil and water well industries. The MP-200 Series bits are designed for use on lightweight drilling equipment. The Rock Cutter Blades perform best in soft formations. The carbide Insert Blades are designed for use in medium-hard formations that are stronger than those drilled by the Rock Cutter type. These bits are available in the 3-blade Insert type or the 3-blade Rock Cutter type. Stocks are regularly maintained in common sizes corresponding to diamond drill specifications, with the AX size ground to 17/8` (47.6mm), BX to 211/32` (59.5mm), and the NX to 231/ 32` (75.4mm). These bits are used to drill inside standard diamond drill casing and should be ordered by the letter designation.

Blue Demon - Rock Cutter Blade

Rock Cutter Blades are low-cost, replaceable blades for soft formations and are forged of tough alloy steel. They are hardfaced on the cutting surfaces with tungsten carbide particles of maximum hardness made to Blue Demon specifications. These heat-treated blades are highly efficient in abrasive formations because of their self-sharpening characteristics. This permits maximum drilling speed until the blade fingers are completely worn away, without loss of gage. The fingers are designed to chip and peel out the formation for fast penetration and speedy cuttings removal.

Replaceable Blade

The Series DB-400 bits with blade sizes from 231/32` (75.4mm) through 4¼` (108mm) designed to be used on light or medium weight drilling equipment which normally employs N-rods 23/8 O.D. (60.3mm) or equivalent size drill pipe. For larger pipe, it is recommended that Type AC-600 bits be used.

Blue Demon - Replaceable Blade

The Series AC-600 bit is designed for heavy weight drilling, usually employing the use of 23/8` (60.3mm) or 27/8` (73mm) tool joint or heavy-duty drill pipe to drill holes from 4¼` (108mm) through 55/8` (142.9mm). While drilling through shale and other formations of similar strength with 6` (152.4mm) or larger bits using 3½` (88.9mm) and 4½` (114.3mm) drill pipe, it is recommended that Series SH-800 bits be used. The AC-600 bits in sizes 37/8` (98.4mm) through 41/8` (104.8mm) are for air drilling only.

Blue Demon - Replaceable Blade

The Type SH-800 bit is primarily designed for drilling with extra-heavy weights. Such drilling equipment generally uses up to 3½` 88.9mm) or 4½` (114.3mm) drill pipe. In formations predominantly shale where hard stringers are encountered, the 55/8` (142.9mm) through 8¾` (222.2mm) Insert Blades are most successful. In softer formations where 3½` (88.9mm) or larger drill pipe is commonly used, Insert Blades through 12` (304.8mm) are available and Rock Cutter Blades may be obtained in sizes through 16` (406.4mm).
