Boland has been the leading supplier of integrated comfort systems and services for commercial, institutional and industrial buildings in the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area for over 50 years.

A family owned business, the company was established in 1960 by Louis J. Boland, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and an officer in the U.S. Navy.

Lou Boland began his career with The Trane Company in 1954. After completing the graduate engineer training class in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Lou was assigned to the Washington, D.C. sales office. There, he worked as a Trane sales engineer, serving his customers well and delivering more than was expected. In 1960, he was promoted to Washington District Manager. The Trane sales franchise was incorporated as Louis J. Boland, Inc. on June 18, 1960.

In 2003, Jim Boland was named President of Boland upon his father’s death. A second son, Lou Boland, Jr. serves as Executive Vice President. Lou’s sons have continued to run the company according to their father’s tradition of high professional standards, quality products and outstanding customer service.

Today, Boland employs over 300 professionals and is the recognized leader of comfort solutions in the community and in the industry. Active in numerous charitable organizations throughout the region, Boland continues to give back to the communities it serves.
