Advice

Building Information Modelling

Building Information Modelling (BIM) models and manages information as well as graphics for sharing information through construction and the whole building lifecycle, eliminating the need to re-enter data, and avoiding data loss, miscommunication, and translation errors. In short it is integrated CAD, plus data.

Indoor Air Quality

Thermal comfort and system performance investigations. IAQ problems are preventable and solvable either at the design stage, when planning refurbishment, or on-site. BSRIA offers a comprehensive service in the main area influencing indoor environment including health and safety, thermal comfort and system performance on site. Those responsible for building services specification, design and maintenance will benefit from our expertise to assess what is wrong and how to solve the problem. A real-time on-site monitoring and performance checks for: thermal comfort, relative humidity, ventilation quality, air quality, pollutant, light levels, noise levels, air intake location.

Life Cycle Costing

BSRIA provides consultancy to help clients, design consultants, contractors and manufacturers apply life cycle costing analysis for their specific projects or bid proposals.

Mock-Up Testing

Mock-up testing and validation of indoor climate before you build: Checking a system performance before installation will ensure it meets project specification and works on site first time. Mock-up or physical modelling is the key to effective building design, procurement, construction and operation. It is a professional process of constructing a full size representation of the proposed design for a specific part of a building interior. Physical mock-ups built in our laboratory or on-site: BSRIA experts can create a mock-up of any type of built environment to assess HVAC systems, and provide advice on design and installation, e.g. offices, dealer rooms, telecomm or IT areas, hospitals, isolation rooms and tailored applications.

Ska Assessments for Office Refurbishment

BSRIA provides accredited Ska assessments to measure the environmental impact of UK office refurbishments. Ska is an environmental labelling method to evaluate fit-out projects, developed from RICS / AECOM research initiated by Skansen, which aimed to measure the environmental impacts associated with fit-out.
