Catalysts

Our flagship organic catalyst has the highest activity of our HPC catalyst lineup with > 15% mass transfer improvements over DEA-catalyzed HPC systems. In addition to being more active, it has significantly lower vapor losses, high resistance to degradation (especially in the presence of oxygen) and is only needed in minor proportions. CATACARB organic catalysts are easily adopted through regular solution makeup, and monitoring of chemistry is simple with our included analytical procedure recommendations. Organic catalysts are best suited for the following applications: Ammonia synthesis gas, Hydrogen gas, Natural gas for pipeline (NG) or liquified natural gas (LNG), Substitute natural gas (SNG), Iron ore reduction gas, Methanol synthesis gas,

Corrosion Inhibitors

The non-inhibited HPC solution is corrosive by nature due to the formation of carbonic acid from wet CO2 and the erosivity of alkaline solutions. Therefore, traditional non-corrosion inhibited HPC systems had to be constructed almost entirely of stainless steel, vastly increasing equipment capital costs. Our corrosion inhibitors have been proven to be very effective at passivating carbon steel surfaces. This permits mostly carbon steel construction of the HPC process and in turn, lower capital costs. Both inhibitors offer protection against wet CO2 attack, erosion/corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking from chlorides. The CATACARB corrosion inhibitors can be regenerated with oxygen present in the feed gas or sparger air, are non-degradable, non-volatile, and come in liquid form for easy handling.

Antifoams

Eickmeyer & Associates, Inc. has developed a signature polyglycol-based antifoam which is compatible in all our CATACARB applications. With a small dosage per day, this antifoam helps prevent foaming occurrences due to organic contaminants at a nearly negligible operating cost. Shipped in a liquid form, CATACARB polyglycol antifoam simply needs to be mixed with water and injected into the system to minimize foaming propensity. Our silicone-based antifoam is used in extreme instances of particle induced foaming, such as from a carbon filter or iron oxides, in which case a small amount of CATACARB silicone-based antifoam can be injected for correction. Although its use is rarely required, CATACARB silicone-based antifoam has been developed to ensure our plants are equipped to operate as reliably as possible.
