NGT-075-B Gamma Tools

CBG - Gamma Tools (0.075 Inch OD) (w/ Molded Electronics Protection)

The latest version of the NGT-075-B contains our new Molded Electronics Protection optimized for extreme drilling environments. Pre-molded pads cover and protect the top and bottom of the circuit boards, replacing the traditional protective silicone mixture poured over the boards. This new encapsulation method of the circuit boards improves reliability by dispatching excessive heat and minimizes the impact of shock and vibration to the electronics. The molded pads also improve serviceability by allowing easy removal to provide access to the electronics for inspection and repair.

CBG - Gamma Tools (0.075 Inch OD) (w/ Encapsulation Sleeve)

CBG’s Encapsulation Sleeve is offered as an alternative to traditional collar mounting methods that may be less effective at protecting gamma tools in harsh drilling environments. Our molded encapsulation sleeve insulates the entire NGT-075-B tool, including its electronics. It reduces shock and vibration by 50% on the NGT-075-B when mounted in a collar. The pre-molded sleeve consists of two pieces that are approximately 1.0” OD when assembled around the .075” gamma tool. Ribbing on the outside of the sleeve provides gripping and allows for thermal expansion. The inside of the sleeve contains precisely molded impressions of the top and bottom of the circuit boards for electronics protection.

CBG - Gamma Tools (0.075 Inch OD) (Original Model)

The Original model of the NGT-075-B remains a staple of our product offering. It has our traditional silicone mixture poured over the circuit boards that is temperature cured for shock and vibration protection.

Gamma Selection Guide - 1.05 Inch OD

CBG - Gamma Tool (1.05 Inch OD)

The NGT-CSX-B is ideal for either probe based or collar mounted assemblies due to its 1.05” diameter and sensitivity similar to the standard, larger diameter NGT-T. Magnetic materials have been minimized to prevent interference with nearby magnetometers.

Gamma Selection Guide - 1.36 Inch OD - Non-Focused

CBG - Non-Directional Gamma Tool (1.36 Inch OD)

The NGT-TX gamma tool is a shorter version of the NGT-T tool.  2.0” have been removed from the electronics chassis for an overall make-up length of 11.6”.  All other specifications are the same as the NGT-T. To protect your gamma investment and ensure the best performance use CBG original SNB Snubbers-Shock & Vibration Isolators.

CBG - Non-Directional Gamma Tool (1.36 Inch OD)

The NGT-T (Natural Gamma Tool-Tensor) is the largest selling MWD gamma tool on the market! With more than 6800 units currently being used in the field worldwide there is no other gamma tool that even comes close.  Initially developed for Tensor in 1993, the NGT-T has been continuously enhanced and improved as the MWD/DD downhole tools industry has matured over the past 27 years. Designed to meet the Tensor MWD system specifications, the NGT-T contains 15-pin high temperature Micro-D Subminiature (MDM) connectors on the top (male pin) and bottom (female socket). All 15 wires pass through the tool from top to bottom connectors. The gamma tool utilizes three wire connections, Pin1 (GND), Pin4 (DC Power) and Pin8 (Signal Out).

CBG - High Sensitivity Non-Directional Gamma Tool ((1.36 Inch OD)

The NGT-CN High Sensitivity Non-Focused Gamma Tool is similar to the NGT-T model but has 40% higher sensitivity due to its longer scintillator crystal. The NGT-CN is interchangeable with the standard NGT-T gamma tool. It is the same overall length and diameter as the NGT-T but is used in high sensitivity non-focused gamma applications. To protect your gamma investment and ensure the best performance use CBG original SNB Snubbers-Shock & Vibration Isolators.

Gamma Selection Guide - 1.36 Inch OD - Focused

CBG - Directional Gamma Tool (1.36 Inch OD)

The DGA Directional Gamma Tool is used for Azimuthal Geosteering and is our standard Tungsten-collimated version of the NGT-T gamma tool. These tools are sometimes referred to as “focused” or “shielded” gamma tools. In this design a 67° “window” is machined along the length of the Tungsten shield that surrounds the crystal/phototube detector. Only gamma ray entering from the formation through this window can be detected and counted. When aligned with the tool face or other physical reference, the DGA indicates the direction from which gamma ray energies originate.

CBG - High Sensitivity Directional Gamma Tool (1.36 Inch OD)

The DGA-C High Sensitivity Gamma Tool is ideal for Azimuthal Geosteering applications. It is a Tungsten-collimated version of the NGT-T gamma tool and has 50% higher sensitivity than the DGA. These tools are sometimes referred to as “focused” or “shielded” gamma tools. In this design, a 78° “window” is machined along the length of the Tungsten shield that surrounds the crystal/phototube detector. Only gamma ray entering from the formation through this window can be detected and counted. When aligned with the tool face or other physical reference, the DGA-C indicates the direction from which gamma ray energies originate.

CBG - Dual-Directional Gamma Tool (1.40 Inch OD)

The new CBG Dual Detector MWD Gamma tool for Azimuthal Geosteering consists of two opposed, tungsten-collimated shielded Nal(TI) scintillation detectors housed within a single ruggedized assembly. Each detector contains its own set of electronics for powering its photomultiplier tube and processing the detected gamma signals. Two 72° “windows” are machined along the length of the Tungsten shield positioned 180° apart from one another. The eccentric tungsten shielding has a 0.23” maximum thickness that provides the highest front to back gamma count ratio. It is designed to maximize gamma rays entering the crystal through the window while effectively blocking them from penetrating the non-window area of the crystal. This unique shielding design and dual detectors effectively doubles the tool sensitivity while maintaining directionality.
