Gene editing, such as CRISPR-Cas9 editing, may also generate cytogenetic changes. Cancer cells are particularly unstable. These changes may influence cell characteristics, potentially leading to inaccurate results in downstream applications. Cytogenetics provides an audit of genetic integrity.
